Hans Christian Andersen (/ˈhɑːnz ˈkrɪstʃən ˈændərsən/; Danish: [hanˀs ˈkʰʁæsd̥jan ˈɑnɐsn̩] ; often referred to in Scandinavia as H. C. Andersen; (2 April 1805 – 4 August 1875) was a Danish author.
