A simple app that lets you explore the Mandelbrot set fractal. You can pan and zoom, choose one of the six colour palettes, change the palette length and the iteration number limit. When you find some particularly nice spot you may save it or share it with your friends. The app serves real-time videos: zoom out from the current spot and zoom into a previously saved location.
You don't need to spend hours looking for interesting spots - enjoy a set of built-in locations.
Manipulate the palette length to change the colour and detail level of the picture. Increase the palette length when you see too many details and the picture gets unclear. The app offers 5 different cyclic palettes and a dynamic one. The dynamic palette works as follows: the points with the lowest escape time are coloured black (so there is always black visible) and the points with escape time higher than the lowest increased by palette length are coloured white (with violet, red and yellow in-between).
Higher iteration limit allows you to see more details at some spots but at the expense of slower computation. On the other hand there are locations where you may produce nice pictures by limiting iterations.
The app uses custom floating point numbers above certain zoom (around 1e+13 depending on the screen resolution) which significantly slows down the computation. The higher the zoom is the longer numbers are necessary (up to 1024 bits long) and the slower the computation is. Zoom is limited to 1e+300 but when you exceed 1e+100 the computation can take some time and you may need patience to get a fully rendered picture. Fortunately there are lots of interesting spots at much lower zooms.
Warning: this app is battery consuming.
