This application contains features that will aid you during soil test data interpretation. The features are:
Particle size analysis (PSA): using the PSA tool, you can determine the soil particle size distribution. This application make use of the hydrometer method.
Textural class: you can use this application to check the textural class of your soil.
Soil unit conversion: this application can be used to convert from one soil unit to other soil units in just one touch. The units supported are: percent, ppm, mg/kg, lbs/acre, kg/ha, ug/ml, ug/g, meq/100 g.
Nutrient deficiency: the deficiency status of a soil nutrient can be determined by using this application. This application will let you know if a soil nutrient is deficient or not.
Note: the critical minimum-soil test values used are for Nigerian soils using a particular method of soil analysis. Tropical areas can also use these values if they have not been established in their areas. The methods used for determining the status are as follows: (a) total nitrogen - micro-kjeldahl method (b) nitrate nitrogen - CuSO4 solution (c) available phosphorus - Bray No 1 (d) available phosphorus - Bray No 2 (e) exchangeable potassium - 1N Neutral NH4OAc (f) organic matter - Walkley and Black (g) available sulphur - 0.1M Ca (H2PO4)2 (g) exchangeable magnesium - 1N Neutral NH4oAc (h) pH - 0.01M CaCl2 (i) available Zn - 0.1N HCL (j) available Boron - hot water
pH interpretation: you can use this application to interpret various soil pH values.
Organic matter to organic carbon: organic matter to organic carbon or vice versa can be done using this application.
