Keep track of your shopping expenses while at the store with this powerful shopping calculator to help stay within your budget and save money. Track total with tax, quantity, number of items, among others. Assign your expenses to one of four different categories. Filter by category, add or remove items, and remove the filter. This is a calculator redesigned as a shopping companion.
Each category is completely customizable. Set different tax rates - typically, 0% and the local sales tax rate. Set the label text or use emoji. Assign a color to easily identify items from each category in the main calculator view. Don't need four categories? Disable as many as you like for a cleaner user interface.
After adding items, change the quantity or remove items in any order. Forgot to include tax? Change the category and the calculator updates the total automatically. Use decimal quantities (like 2.5) for items such as produce or bulk goods.
When finished shopping, you see the total of each category, the budget you set for yourself and how money much you saved. Once confirmed, the shopping trip is saved to your history. Check your history to see how much you've spent in each category, total tax paid, number of items, total budgeted and total saved.
Currency and decimal separators can be set independently of the locale. Dollar, Euro, any currency character on your system can be used.
Some unique buttons are:
undo delete: restore an item you've deleted accidentally
percent off: calculate a discounted price based on a percent reduction
negative: add a negative amount (like a coupon)
This calculator was created to help stay within budget while shopping for the things we need every week. Some items are purchased every week, but some are needed only every 3 or 4 weeks. Our budget for groceries is always the same, however. This calculator allows my wife and I to track our current shopping total, remove items from a "want" category when we are over budget, or splurge on something extra when we have money left over.
