This app allows users to find the exact locations of “Sarasota School of Architecture” structures. The “Sarasota School” was a regional variation of Modern Architecture that adapted the avant-garde European architectural experiments of the 1920s and 1930s (lack of applied decoration, geometric volumes, floor-to-ceiling glass, flat roofs, etc) to the sun and rain of the Florida climate (large overhanging eaves, close indoor-outdoor relationship, natural ventilation strategies, etc). Since a majority of "Sarasota School" buildings are not open to the public, the app allows users exterior visits only. In addition to locating the buildings, the app also provides brief histories of the structures, as well as vintage photographs and biographies of the architects.
