Imagine reporting Graffiti, Potholes or Broken Street Lights and Signs while you go about your daily activities. The Merrillville Reporter is a free phone app designed for residents of Merrillville, Indiana which allows that and more. The app includes a rotating rolodex of important community numbers that dials when the button is pressed. The Town's events calendar and several municipal Facebook links are also available at the touch of a button.
The most important tool on the app is the ability to report a problem to the Town. After starting a new report, the user can use the phones GPS with a button on the map or drag and zoom to the correct location. Next the user has an option to submit a photo of the problem. The final step is to choose the issue type from a predefined list. There are options for submitting more information which further describes the problem and the submitters contact information before submitting.
The information will be routed to Town staff where the issue location, image and details can be viewed in order to schedule Town staff to inspect & resolve the problem.
