Considered one of the foundational texts on the law of attraction, this book is praised as a masterpiece in the genre of success literature, and often referred to and quoted by followers of the law of attraction. Appeared initially in 1910, way before the term "Law of attraction" was even coined, it remains relevant and appealing thanks to its simple, dialogue-like writing, addressed to people who wish to "get rich first, and philosophize later", as he puts it. Wattles believes that within each individual lays the power to create their own dream life, by applying the right mental attitude and then (a second part not always remembered, but essential for the law of attraction to work), taking inspired action in a manner consistent with such attitude. The teachings exposed in this book intend to work as a step by step guide so that the reader can "walk the talk" to get that law of attraction-like attitude and therefore become rich or achieve any other goal (s)he intends to attract.
The author's aim is to increase prosperity and abundance in everyone around, and the book is full of examples and comparisons to help develop within oneself what he calls -in perhaps the biggest analogy to what later would become the law of attraction- "The Certain Way of Thinking"; a way of thinking, he says, sure to generate abundance, wealth, and the realization of anything we set ourselves to obtain.
