The Government has decided to integrate various skill building programmes implemented by different departments to ensure the effectiveness of Skill Training activities. The vision of the Government was to bring in a centralized system of selecting and monitoring skill training courses and Institutions besides tracking the trainees till they get employed. Hence the Government has declared the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation as a Nodal Agency for entire state in the year 2013. This ensured adopting common standard framework of programmes and fee structures, by which overlapping or duplication of efforts and wastage of resources will be avoided. This declaration helps in creating synergy among different departments engaged skill development activities.
A) TRAINING COURSES
The TNSDC has identified Central / State Government Institutions and Agencies apart from the premier industrial houses for imparting short term skill development training programmes across the state. TNSDC aimed to ensure bench mark standards in skill training and to align with the National Standards. Accordingly, National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) and National Occupational Standards (NOS) along with Qualification Packs (QP) has been prescribed as standard norms for all Skill training courses.
B) TRAINING COST
TNSDC has adopted uniform training cost as prescribed by Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Notification which includes, Training cost, Assessment cost, Boarding & Lodging Cost and Transportation cost.
Mega job fairs were organized with the twin purpose of placement for educated youth in private sector and registration of youth for skill training. Those who didn't find suitable placement in the job fair are registered for skill training in various sectors to facilitate their placement in near future. On these lines, a big pavilion was installed inside all venues of Job Fairs accommodating TNSDC and its major skill training providers. So far 12 Job fairs were conducted in coordination with Director of Employment and Training and District Administration in which 4,47,496 youth participated and 59,232 youth were placed in private industries. There were 55,224 candidates registered their applications for skill training in various sectors through these job fairs. Publicity of Skill Training programmes are being carried out at all Employment Exchanges of the State for mobilization and Skill training registration.
Apart from this, wide publicity is also given by issue of pamphlets and display of skill training banners in all the District Employment offices and District Collectorate. Skill training application forms are made available to the Job seekers who visit the Employment Offices. In future, the TNSDC Web Portal will be a gate way through which the candidates themselves can enroll their application for skill training through online. In addition to this, candidates coming to Employment Exchanges also can enroll their willingness through Web Portal.
