Caution! Extreme temperatures are a major cause of health problems and a high statistical risk of mortality.
Timely real time information during extreme weather events can prevent the consequences. The EXTREMA Europe application uses satellite data in conjunction with atmospheric models to locate the most affected areas in real time. The Country of Europe proposes a network of cool spots where residents and visitors of the city can be relieved during extreme temperatures.EXTREMA Europe evaluates your personalized thermal risk in real time at your location and, if it is high, alerts you. It also gives you instructions on how to respond to the high temperatures in Athens and informs you of the coolest spots closest to you.
EXTREMA Europe gives you information about:
• The potential risk: Personalized thermal risk for your current location and suggestions for appropriate risk mitigation measures.
• Cool spots: Information, opening hours, and directions to get to the nearest cool spot as well as suggestions to choose the most suitable for you.
• Multiple user profiles: Multi-user support. This feature is especially useful when you want to protect your elderly relatives: just enter your profile and location and get estimates of the potential risk they are experiencing).
