OVERVIEW
"Yomzo" continuously recognizes values from the display of the measuring equipment, reads out the values by voice, and saves them to a file at a constant interval.
The speech function is supposed to be used by those who have a hearing impairment when learning.
The device's camera, storage and OCR (Optical Character recognition) feature are used.
CAUTION
Depending on the device, the battery may become hot and may forcibly terminate the app.
USAGE OVERVIEW
In order to read values consecutively, both the value display of the measuring equipment and the camera of the device should be fixed with holding tools when using them.
The numeral type (normal numeral character or 7-segment character) employed to the display unit of the equipment should be set to "Yomzo" by the user.
When the recognition frame is displayed on the device screen, the user is asked to adjust "Yomzo" so that only the numeric display part of the measuring equipment falls within the frame.
The speech reading of the recognized values and file saving at a constant interval are performed according to the user's instruction.
HOW TO USE
After startup, select the numeral type (normal numeral character or 7-segment character) to be read.
Menu -> "Recognition Mode" -> "Normal Font Auto" or "7Segment Font Auto"
Fix the value display part of the measuring equipment and the device, and match the numeric character string you want to read with the recognition frame of the device screen.
It would be better to do the following to match.
1)Adjust the height of the numeric character string with the zoom buttons on the screen.
2)Adjust the width of recognition frame using the width adjustment buttons on the screen.
3)Use the up / down / left / right buttons to adjust the position of the recognition frame.
4)Make sure there is no gap inside the recognition frame.
Prevent lighting or external light to appear in the display unit of the equipment.
The recognition result and the confidence are displayed at the bottom of the screen.
When "ReadAloud" button is pressed, speech reading of the recognized value is started.
After setting the recording interval and the recording duration in the menu and pressing the "Record" button, the recognized result is saved to the file in CSV format.
The Save settings are limited in the trial version app.
The storage location is the folder "DDReaderWork" of storage (even if it is emulated).
DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT
It is difficult for the device to automatically determine the measurement value display part of the equipment.
The reason is that the number of displayed characters is small, and the border between the frame and the number becomes ambiguous due to the shadow.
Since the device is fixed, the user can make sure that the numerical display part is inside the frame correctly. Therefore, it is not necessary to automatically judge the display frame, and high speed and high accuracy recognition can be done.
In addition, since the user gives "Yomzo" the number type, misrecognition is reduced.
