This application can be broken into three parts: your refrigerator, your recipes, and your shopping list.
The refrigerator is where you keep track of the ingredients inside your fridge; upon first starting the app, go ahead and add everything in your fridge, and then just maintain the list as you go to the store. This way you can determine which ingredients you have or don’t have by just checking the app. It would be impossible to add every possible ingredient for every possible recipe, so you can also add your own ingredients to the large list. Never feel that a recipe is too obscure!
The recipe page contains a list of your recipes, which you can sort by tag and type. Although when you download the app it comes with built in recipes, there is a recipe maker which allows you to make your own. At the bottom of each recipe is a + button, and when you press that it sends all of the ingredients for that recipe to your shopping list.
The shopping list is populated by the recipe page, but you can also add your own ingredients if you want to keep track of the things you need to buy outside of recipes (ex. Milk and cereal). You can also sort by recipe (default), or by ingredient, which removes all repeats among multiple recipes and puts it in an alphabetized list.
All the data is stored in .xml files, and can be imported and exported to your phones hard drive with the import / export buttons on the fridge page, so be sure to keep backups if you enter a lot of recipes!
