Practice and grow your math skills in a series of timed challenges!
See below for the rules, followed by tons of details.
Each activity challenges you to solve as many simple math problems as you can within thirty seconds. Each correct answer counts as a "counted" sheep, and every five sheep that you count rewards you with a level-up. There's no penalty for entering an incorrect value, just try until you get it right!
Hand-drawn graphics reward progress, and gentle sound effects accompany submissions -- disable these by lowering the media volume to zero. You can reattempt activities as many times as you like, and you can try different activities by navigating back to the main and sub menus via the back button on your device.
Try to gain as many levels as you can before time runs out, or apply your own metric for determining success. Once the timer reaches zero, you'll be provided with a simple summary of statistics from your last session, the option to retry the activity, and the option to share your statistics via email if you like -- just provide the email address of a recipient, hit the green button, and Counting Sheep will parse your results into a message for you.
So far, Counting Sheep supports addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division activities. Each activity allows you to determine whether your timed challenge will consist of operations on natural numbers or integers.
In "Subtraction with Natural Numbers", solutions will always be non-negative in case the user hasn't been introduced to integers yet. The "Subtraction with Integers" activity will challenge you to enter solutions with either sign, as will any other activity involving integers.
Currently, the solutions in the "Division with Natural Numbers" and "Division with Integers" activities will always consist of whole numbers in case users are unfamiliar with remainders.
No connection to the internet is currently necessary to enjoy this app, unless you would like to take advantage of the summary sharing feature. Users can enjoy Counting Sheep at home, on the road, or anywhere else.
Counting Sheep is in its very first release version which I look forward to updating soon. My goal is to continuously improve the app with adjustments to the UX and UI, provide graphical and audio related upgrades, and introduce new features and activities. I have provided a short list of additions that I am considering.
