Renew is a self-guided program designed to help you recover from symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder following trauma. Renew teaches you evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy skills that can reduce posttraumatic stress symptoms and help you get back to living a full life. In Renew, you’ll earn points for completing activities designed to help you decrease your avoidance, process your trauma, and boost your mood. Earn points to level up and watch your Renew tree grow as you recover!
The Renew program involves three basic kinds of activities:
1. Approach activities will help you enter situations you’ve been avoiding so that you feel comfortable wherever you choose to go.
2. Process activities will help you emotionally process the trauma through writing or talk-to-text. Systematically processing the trauma can help you gain a different perspective on what happened and put the memory of the trauma behind you.
3. Self-care activities will help boost your mood so you can feel good about working on your trauma.
Recovering from trauma can be a challenge. Research has shown that having support from people you trust can help you recover faster. Renew allows you to add one or more people to your support team so that you can get the encouragement you need to stay on track with your recovery. When you add people to your support team, they’ll get notifications about the points you earn as you progress in Renew. They’ll be able to send you congratulations, tell you to keep up the good work, or even give you the little nudge you need through Renew Support’s messaging function. Your support team will NOT have access to any of the personal information you put into Renew, so you don’t need to tell them anything about your trauma if you don’t want to.
Renew also includes information about trauma reactions and helpful tips based on the latest research in trauma and posttraumatic stress, as well as motivational videos and inspiring quotes to help keep you focused on your recovery. Short check-in assessments help you track your progress, provide feedback, and stay motivated.
