Classmates.App allows Students to grade their teachers based on their performance and reach a consensus. It's important to listen to the feedback from the students as they are the consumers of the service provided by teachers and as is often the case it is difficult for any one student to raise concerns about the behaviors of any teacher, since he/she may become a victim of targeted harassment. This application allows it's users to reach a consensus on the performance of a teacher together. The users have an option to remain anonymous if they chose to.
A collective voice is harder to ignore, so as more students use this application, the feedback a teacher receives from this application becomes inarguable.
This will raise awareness about the bad apples in the teaching community as well as provide a valuable feedback mechanism for teachers who are willing to perfect their teaching methods. This in-turn will increase competition and benefit the students. As the performance of a teacher is now quantified and recorded, it can be presented to parents who pay for the education and directors who might be in charge to evaluate the quality of services.
In the near future, with sufficient students using this application, Classmates.App intents to conduct a study on the correlation between grades scored by the students to the grades scored by respective teachers. This promises to provide valuable insights into the dynamics of a class room environment.
The Goals of Classmates.App are
1: To provide a platform for students to evaluate a teacher's performance and give valuable feedback.
2: To increase competition between teachers by raising awareness about their performance within the parent, teachers and student community.
3: To separate the adept from the incompetent within the teaching community and raise awareness.
4: To give a voice to the opinions of students, who as consumers of the service, has a right of freedom of opinion and expression (Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)
5: To raise awareness about abusive/ damaging behaviors that might exist within a community of teachers and students and bring attention to it.
Future Goals:
1: Study the correlation between the grades/marks obtained by the students to the grades/marks obtained by the teachers.
2: Create a Richer community of students within a campus by adding more content sharing and social features like discussion forums, Personality Matching etc.
This app is intended to be used by students older than 13. The developer do not condone the usage of this application by users younger than 13 years of age, despite the content rating awarded to this application by Google / Google Play.
