Historian is a free app written by a UK Consultant Psychiatrist and aims to take a comprehensive automated psychiatric history using a simple pick and click approach from a series of scrolling grids. The app also takes a detailed self report mental state and stores this anonymised data on your mobile device for printing or emailing or for automated analysis. For convenience, histories can be taken in more than one sitting.The generate a history and analysis options generate reports exploring key symptoms, areas of risk and likely diagnoses. All data is only stored on the mobile device and can be deleted by the end user at any time and no data is knowingly shared with 3rd parties.
The history taking approach using 'pick and click' has been independently evaluated and found to be comparable with histories taken by experienced trainee psychiatrists but the diagnostic component remains experimental and is yet to be fully evaluated. The diagnoses generated are not a substitute for an assessment by a professional mental health worker.
