The “Clocked at...” app allows you to calculate the speed of a pitched baseball without using a radar gun! Just select the pitching distance, time the duration of the pitch, and “Clocked at...” calculates the speed of the pitch in miles per hour.
“Clocked at...” will also show the major league equivalent speed of a pitch thrown from a youth league distance. For example, a pitch measured at 60 mph at a distance of 46 feet gives the batter the same time to react as a pitch thrown at 78 mph at the standard major league distance of 60.5 feet.
Select from three different timing modes:
- Tap on pitch, tap on catch
- Hold during pitch, release on catch
- Hold, release on pitch, tap on catch
“Clocked at...” provides sound and vibration feedback when you start and stop the timer, and varies the sound based on the calculated speed.
Select the pitching distance from several youth baseball leagues/divisions, or enter your own custom distance.
Please note that the accuracy of the calculated speed is dependent on your reaction time. A ball pitched at 100 mph from a standard distance is only in the air for about 4 tenths of a second, which is very difficult to time exactly. For the most accurate timing, stand to one side of the pitch instead of behind the catcher or pitcher.
