Do you (or your class) need drill on moles, relative atomic mass and a bunch of other physical chemistry calculation problems? You may even be new to chemistry teaching and want to avoid some of the discussion and re-calculation as the class get a different answer from you.
This app creates random physical chemistry problems, just for practice. All the information is given, you just leave out one piece of information and you have a problem for someone else or to check yourself.
Currently covers:
Moles-mass-molecular and atomic mass
ideal gas law - pressure-volume-moles-temperature
Avogadro's number-mass of an atom
Relative atomic mass - gives 2 or 3 isotopes and abundances
Calorimetry - energy-material-mass-c-deltaT
%yield - yield-expected mass-actual mass
Strong acid - concentration-pH (assume full dissociation)
Weak acid - random acid-H+ concentration-Ka (&pH)
Titration - random acid values, though they could be anything.
Gibbs free energy change.
To come: Born-Haber cycles, atom economy and a load of other stuff.
The phone's "menu" button will show a help screen.
The phone's "back" button will close the app.
The phone's "home" button will leave the app running.
Permissions: You can install this app to an SD card to save space on your phone, which is why it asks for permission to do so, even if you don't do it.
Now the apologies/known bugs:
* It's in English at the moment, though since it's chemistry that has little effect.
* The numbers sometimes have too many significant figures, so you will have to sort out the significant figures required by your exam board. I'm working on it.
* It may not lay out well on your device. It looks fine on my Galaxy and sort of OK on my tablet. If you have a tiny phone, the buttons will also be tiny and there's a possibility that the layout will be unusable. If you use a larger-than-normal font, then the buttons may look odd. If the display is too bad for you, tell me, I am working on different sizes.
This is my first public app for Android. If you don't think much of it, tell me, please, rather than giving a bad rating, or at least be precise about what it should do.
Expect updates almost daily!
