Greetings from the Porur Racers Team. Thank you for your overwhelming support and for registering for the Porur Racers Anniversary Run – 2016.
About Us :
• Formed in 2012
• Over 250 Runners from different age group
• Daily Activities & schedules
• Active Running , Cycling & Swimming
• Members with different background and from different industry, but united with a single passion called Running.
• We believe - “Run a bit, be always Fit”
• Have organised different events in the past for its members, like M2M Cycling, Pondy Cycling, Women’s day run, Independence day Run etc.
We at Porur Racers, want to celebrate our Anniversary by giving a good running event experience to fellow runners and new runners. With a aim to promote running this year we have decided to conduct a running event under 3 categories, 5K / 10K / 21.1K, and keep the event Free of cost to the participants.
However, as part of the event, the Porur Racers jointly with an NGO, Vaanavil, is promoting planting of trees for a cleaner and healthier environment. We are targeting to plant 1000 trees before the end of this year.
About Vaanavil :
• An environmental NGO with a mission to make the environment greener and cleaner for the future generation by partnering with community at large.
• Goals for the year :
o 1000 Saplings to be planted and maintained
o Work towards Zero waste
o Produce own organic manure using kitchen and garden waste
o 100% electronic re-cycling
o Creating awareness and reach out to more people in the society
As part of this initiative, the participants can volunteer to adopt a tree by paying Rs.100 per tree at the counter on the event day. The amount collected will be used for planting the saplings and providing a Mesh tree Guard for protecting the saplings. Looking forward to all your support for this initiative.
