Periodic Table Investigator VR is your Google Cardboard app for investigating properties of elements and trends as a function of those properties. It uses a simple look-click mechanic. Just look at the element, button, or dropdown that you want to activate and click. For the sliders and panels, just look at them, then click and hold to move them. For input fields, click the field to display a virtual keyboard and click new characters to modify the values. Most visual elements will highlight to indicate that they can be activated. Most panels have a "?" button that you can click to provide more information about the options available for that context.
You will see the periodic table in a new light as you transform it into shapes that are only viable in a virtual reality format. Some of these formats make it easier to spot trends across the left and right edges of the table, and the lanthanide and actinide series can be shown in their natural positions. In addition, the ability to overlay a chart on each element can show the relationship of selected properties in relation to adjoining elements.
Periodic Table Investigator VR provides element data (including name, atomic number, atomic weight, melting and boiling points, category, electron configuration and shells, group and period, oxidation states, molar heat capacity, state, and symbol). Its strength is the ability to investigate trends of those properties by showing groupings of elements with the same category (shown in the screenshots above) and state (even as a function of temperature), which elements have a property equal to, less than, or greater than a certain value (including many of the text ones) and which elements have properties between two values. Selecting the cube face for the element being investigated allows you to simultaneously see the trend and element value data simultaneously.
