The “Belt and Road” International Skills Competition is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China (MHRSS), the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and Chongqing Municipal People's Government. It will be held at the Chongqing International Expo Center from 25 to 31 May, 2019.
The theme of this competition is "Skill Cooperation and Common Development". The competitors are from 80 member countries and regions from the WorldSkills international organization, and 35 (non-WorldSkills-member) “Belt and Road initiative” (BRI) countries. The aim is to carry forward the Silk Road spirit of "peaceful cooperation, openness and tolerance, mutual learning and mutual benefit", to enhance the skill communication and cooperation between BRI countries, and to build a platform for skill integration and friendship development.
Referring to the WorldSkills Competition Standard, the competition will be held openly, with up to 18 competition skills, namely: Electronics, Water Technology, Automobile Technology, Freight Forwarding, Bricklaying, Electrical Installations, Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Plumbing and Heating, Information Network Cabling, Fashion Technology, Floristry, Bakery, Beauty Therapy, Cooking , Hairdressing, Health and Social Care, Restaurant Service. At the same time, exchange and exhibition activities for Ba and Yu craftsmen's unique skills and skills with local characteristics will be held.
