Taking shadow-less photographs of products requires a product photography table. Some people use acrylic boards with lights placed below the board. An acrylic board costs between $10 and $100. A product photography table costs between $150 and a few thousands dollars.
This app allows to use your device as a product photography table to take shadow-less photographs of small products.
Product photography tables often allow you to set only white background and optionally change the brightness. With this app on your device you can set the background of any color you want, change it's transparency and also change the brightness of the screen.
The app has five areas on the initial screen.
Touching upper left area will switch the app into the full screen mode, where the selected color will be displayed at the selected brightness.
Touching the screen will return the app into the mode with five areas on the screen.
Touching upper right area allows you to select the hue.
Touching lower right area allows you to select the desired saturation and the luminosity.
Middle lower area allows you select the transparency.
Lower left area displays the selected color metrics.
At the bottom of the screen there is a track bar, which allows to change the screen brightness.
All areas can be resized to you preferences.
After you have set your preferred color, just touch the screen and you are ready to take photographs.
On older devices there could be a flicker. This is because the screen is refreshed between 30 and 60 times per second. To get rid of the flicker, you have to set the shutter speed to higher than 1/30 of second or to higher of 1/60 of second, depending on the screen refresh rate. You can find the right figure for your device in the manual, or on the Internet.
Also to take sharp photographs of your products, you need to set the shutter speed higher than the focal length of the lens. So if your length is 55mm one, then you should not set the shutter speed lower than 1/55 sec. If you have a 200mm lens, then the shutter speed should not be lower than 1/200 sec.
The last thing to take care of is the screen timeout. Please set it to something like 10 minutes or more, to prevent the screen to go dark.
