This is a free app containing information about hepatitis disease symptoms causes treatment and diet & food tips. Hepatitis is a disease that affects the organ liver –that plays a vital role in keeping our body healthy by removing impurities from the food we eat. Everything you eat and drink passes through your liver.
Hepatitis is generally caused by virus and is classified into five different types: Hepatitis A Hepatitis B hepatitis C hepatitis D and hepatitis E. Hepatitis B, C and D occur primarily due to contact with infected bodily fluids. The primary causes of Hepatitis A and E are consumption of contaminated water and food. Other causes include eating raw oysters or raw shellfish or raw meat - which carry a higher risk of a Hepatitis A infection.
Not all forms of hepatitis are infectious. Alcohol, medicines, and chemical may be bad for the liver and cause inflammation. A person may have a genetic problem, a metabolic disorder, or an immune related injury. Obesity can be a cause of liver damage which can lead to inflammation. These are known as non-infectious causes.
Eating a balance diet plays important role in treatment of hepatitis. The diet should include foods that are easy on the liver and exclude foods that cause the liver to work harder as this can delay a patient’s recovery from the disease.
Fruits and vegetables should be a significant part of any diet to help in recovering from a liver disease. They are full of essential nutrients and are easy to digest. As a bonus, they also contain antioxidants, which can protect the liver cells from damage.
Healthy proteins in the form of low-fat milk and dairy products along with lean meats, beans, eggs and soy products can also be a part of a healthy liver diet.
Avoiding deep fried spicy and oily foods is a restriction the patient should follow.
Drinking more water and healthy fluids helps in quick recovery.
