I was elected as MLA from Hisar in 2014 and I'm a surgeon by profession. I entered the political fray in 1996, when the people of Hisar voted for government under the leadership of Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Apart from being a politician, I have also build the BJP's operations in Hisar, virtually from scratch.
The second child of Smt. Sushila Devi and late Shri. Manphool Singh, I was born in November 1952. I had my schooling in the Charkhi Dadri. Later I decided to become a doctor and attended Rohtak Medical College in Rohtak, Haryana from where I obtained my MBBS and MS with specialization in surgery. I worked for the Govt. of Haryana for 10 years before moving to Hisar to set up a private practice as a surgeon.
An RSS activist since childhood, I retain the Swayamsevak’s tendency to downplay the “Swayam” giving precedence to “Seva”. I believe that a society does not become “modern” by just changing its superficial appearance. Progress and modernisation means adopting lifestyles that reflect collective maturity and vision.
Married to Dr. Pratima Gupta, who finished her MBBS from MG Medical College, Indore and is working as a Senior Medical Officer for the Govt. of Haryana. I have two children; daughter - Richa Gupta, who finished her B.Tech. from TITS, Bhiwani and MBA from XLRI Jameshedpur and son - Aneesh Gupta, a graduate from IIT Delhi. A non-smoker and teetotaler, I believe in the medical efficacy of yoga and physical exercises.
