HeadTek has been designed to help monitor forces associated with traumatic brain injuries, such as concussions, sub-concussive events, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, heat stroke, and Second Impact Syndrome for both competitive and recreational athletes. This app is able to analyze, interpret, and compare force, rotation, and temperature values sustained during impact to the human head. By way of a set of sensors, including an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a thermometer, this unique software is able to receive valuable, real-time information about hits or blows sustained to the head.
HeadTek has created a system and method for measuring the linear and rotational acceleration, angular velocity, and average kinetic energy of the human body and head. This system and device will use an accelerometer to measure force in G-units of measurement, a gyroscope to measure rotational hits to the head, and a thermometer to measure the kinetic energy or temperature of the human body.
The sensor element is compact enough to be embedded into a headband beneath any helmet, in direct contact with the head, allowing for accurate reporting.
The control unit, which attaches to the sensor element over a thin tether wire, can be enabled for communication over various network systems, including cellular, allowing the wearer to be tracked in real time over large distances.
A cloud-based system provides data distribution, protection, and storage, allowing for real-time reporting to any number of receiving parties. Receiving parties are likely to include coaches, trainers, parents, and doctors.
This wireless device collects real-time data to analyze specific patterns of body movement and body temperature; delivering real-time metrics over a network to analyze and store for examination. The HeadTek System can deliver data to multiple mobile devices (iOS, android, Blackberry) over a network to multiple recipients regardless of distance.
