Currently, students private message questions to teachers individually and thus learn individually. By having a single platform for Q&A that's viewable by everyone, students can learn from each other's questions. They learn as a class rather than as individuals.
The platform allows questions to be asked anonymously—a key feature of the platform.
Those without the courage to ask questions in front of his/her classmates can bring up misconceptions with ease. More questions asked result in more misconceptions cleared.
Educating.sg will attempt to work with schools to get both teachers and students on the platform for this to work.
The platform intends for students to ask questions to *their own teachers* who are qualified and know their students best, unlike existing platforms where questions asked can be answered by anyone from the general public.
Over time, the platform will become a repository of explanations to common misconceptions which all can refer to.
*NOTE: The app currently does not support push notifications. Log in regularly to check for new questions/answers. E-mail notifications can be enabled in settings.*
The platform is also used by university faculties and student leaders to answer questions from the student body.
Educating.sg was founded by 16-year-old Aalden Tnay with Makoto Fujimoto and Stephen Landaas.
