We are living in a time where smartphones are becoming mandatory human companions (some even say they will become extension of our physical senses) that provide a knowledge base for communication, exploration, entertainment and personal management. Among the very requirements of citizens of any country are their knowledge and familiarity of the Constitution of their Country where their citizenship is defined and governed.
I hope Ethiopian Constitution as smartphone application will help many people in many different ways. I did it because there is none for Ethiopia at the moment while many other countries do have such applications.
The ‘Constitution of Ethiopia’, which is the supreme law of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, was adopted by the Transitional Government of Ethiopia in December 1994 and came into force in August 1995.
The constitution consists of 106 articles in 11 chapters. It provides for a federal government of nine ethnic-based regions governed by a parliament divided into a House of Peoples' Representatives and House of Federation.
