EDSUF (Edo Startup Fund) is an equity crowd funding platform that connects startups with investors online. This is an Initiative of Edo State Government of Nigeria under the Edo State Social Investment Program launched in 2018. With a focus on creating opportunities for verified Startups from Edo State at various stages to showcase and attract investments from individuals, organizations, angel investors and venture capital firms.
The Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki whose vision is to raise highly sustainable and innovative businesses through the empowerment of Startups among the youth population in Edo State. Mr. Governor wants youths in the State to have sustainable sources of income as well as become employers of labour themselves.
Edo Startup Fund Initiative incubates, accelerates and train business (owners) leaders and startups by attempting to unravel the complexity of leadership, business and offering a framework that will help people to become great business leaders.
It aims at producing business owners and Startups who will know how to mobilize others to get extra-ordinary things done in organizations and nations. They should now be able to transform values into actions; visions into realities; obstacles into innovations; separateness into solidarity and risks into rewards. The initiative is meant for people who are motivated to become business owners and get tools to become dynamic, strategic and visionary leaders that will transform organizations and our nation.
Programme:
1. Business Incubation and Acceleration:
Edsuf helps new and startup companies to develop by providing services such as management training or office space.
Our main goal is to produce successful firms that will leave the Startup project financially viable and self-supporting. Our business incubation and acceleration promotes creativity, innovation, peace, harmony and inclusive development. It is focused on providing a platform for youth development.
2. Trainings and Mentorship:
At EDSUF, we will solve the problem of access to quality business development training and leadership through; EDSUF Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC).
Here, we train and certify Startups, employees and entrepreneurs on Business and leadership principles. The centre shall be in partnership with Universities, Business Schools, African Center for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Center LSD) founded by Otive Igbuzor based in Abuja Nigeria and many others. Through these partnerships, we will tap into the wealth of their highly experienced and qualified leadership and business experts.

3. Investment Readiness and Demo day
This programme is usually a week long boot camp where Startups are trained on how to pitch to investors and things needed for investment to help the startups and entrepreneurs to scale their businesses. At the end of the programme, angel investors and venture capitalists are invited to a pitching event for them to spot any of the Startups for investment.
Edo state Government through the social investment program (Edo SIP) organizes series of activities to discover youths in the state to present their ideas and get enrolled in the 3 months incubation (training program) which prepares them and get their businesses validated for funding opportunities.
Edo SIP has created this online platform that show cases the various startups and how much they require to take their business to the next level.
Government cannot do this alone so is a call to individuals and corporate organizations to support in getting more youths not just to be self-employed but to be job creators.
Edo SIP incubates 20 startups every 3 months Edsuf hopes with the aim of training 100 startups this year.
In partnership with Fund managers, Edo SIP has created an Escrow account that holds the funds and release to each startup per milestones or at different stages of development.
