GoRate(圖1)-速報App

GoRate is not just another app, it’s a new verb. The GoRate app will send news bits as Topics to all users (GoRaters) according to their set preferences in terms of categories chosen and set frequency. GoRaters will then GoRate these news bits by giving them a mark between 0 and 10 that will reflect their approval or disproval of the Topics’ statement. For instance, if you have chosen basketball and LeBron plays a particularly nice game, you might be sent something like “LeBron’s team owe him their victory”. Lebron will be tagged in that Topic and your mark will reflect upon him. Categories are divided into Main and Sub, with the Main being Sports, Politics, Entertainment and World. Sub categories, which will expand in numbers as GoRate covers more fields, would be (for Sports) Football, American football, Basketball, Tennis, etc. Politics would include International, North America, Europe, Middle East, etc. Entertainment is Movies and Music for now, and World includes Health, Environment, Rights, Technology, etc. Sports teams, parties, leaders who are behind those news Topics will be tagged in them, and so the mark will indirectly reflect upon them. In other words, we would be rating their actions, resulting in a popularity stock market of sort.

Since the GoRating is an always-on operation, with Topics continuously being rolled out as events are happening, GoRate is akin to a permanent and public voting booth. From here on, and through GoRate, people are not passive recipients of the news anymore, as they can express their opinions of said news, whether it is related to a political event, a sports encounter, a movie release, or even a general interest subject such as global warming, human rights, GMO, etc. This marks a clear departure from the so far available options, which are limited to posts, “likes”, tweets and such, which are inherently limited in reach to the user’s personal audience. GoRaters are continuously expressing their opinion on issues they deem critical in a way that affects both said issues and the key players behind them. This is empowerment to the people and accountability for leaders. As such, GoRate will redefine the entire fans-to-leader and fans-to-idea structure, whereby fans (or opponents) can now influence their public index, thus helping promote and highlight (or the opposite) their respective index, their GoRate. Critically, GoRate will give a voice to the moderates who are currently left out of our binary system.

GoRate is also obviously a news aggregator, since it will push to you any relevant issue making the headlines with your set of preferences. Within that Topic, and besides the tagged leader when that applies, users will find links to articles from varied and diverse news sources. From here on, you can use GoRate to check on the news AND get back at them, pointing out what you like or agree with (or not) and… to what extent, since the GoRate is a variable between 0 and 10.

We are all emotional about one issue or another, often many. We could be football fans who follow up closely on global warming and movies, perhaps with an interest in European politics. Or any combination of one or more interests. As well, we are also all frustrated by our inability to affect, or “get back” at the news, at least in a manner that would somehow make a difference. Watching football fans glued to a game, their reaction to every hot action, (or lack thereof) their frustration when their team loses… often to the point of them getting violent, verbally and unfortunately physically as well in some cases. The same diagnosis applies to political followers, to adepts and opponents of one human rights issue (gay rights, gun rights, freedom of expression) or some global-impact issue such as global warming, GMO, world famine, diseases, endemics…
