Glasgow Sonic Clycling was created as part of a final project for the master’s “Sound for moving image’ at the Glasgow school of Art.
The concept is simple : represent bike courses not with images but with all the sounds that you can find on the differents paths.
The goal is to show how we can represent our landscape thanks to sound.
You can enjoy this app in different ways:
● During the course : it will allow you to compare the different atmospheres and pay attention to some elements of our soundscape. (An app exist but not available in store in this moment).
● When preparing your course : you can listen to the sounds that you are going to hear during your ride in advance.
● At home : you can simply enjoy the different soundscapes.
Each map comes with different stops which are all associated with a binaural* recording corresponding to the place.
*What does binaural mean?
Binaural is a 3D stereo representation of our human hearing.

For technical reasons the sound is played with Youtube. The black screen for each video is normal.
All the recordings have been made during the period of June-July and have been thought to be the most representative of the “normal” soundscape of these landscapes. But these sounds may vary depending on the season.
Each ride have been planned to be made in one day. Moreover, there is always a train station close to the final point if you want to do only one way.
Please make sure you have the right equipments for each routes.
