High intensity interval training is a series of short yet heightened bursts of energy in exercise, followed by short periods of slower exercise as rest, set up in a fixed pattern of time and ratio. The most popular exercise of choice for this training is a sprint followed by a jog, though there are other means of using HIIT, exercise bikes for example. The intense periods of this exercise are unsustainable, causing a need for the slower training throughout. Though this is typically known as a training regime of high difficulty, it is also a highly flexible exercise of choice which can suit most individuals.
For best results you should aim to complete 16-18 minutes for a work out - but if done right you will continue to burn fat through the next day!
