The Girl Guides Association of Malaysia (Persatuan Pandu Puteri Malaysia- PPPM) began with the establishment of the first Girl Guides team at the Methodist Female School, Kuala Lumpur in 1916.
In 1917 the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia was registered with the Girl Guides Headquarters in Calcutta, India. The PPPM Administrative Center was transferred from Singapore to Wisma Pandu Puteri, Kuala Lumpur in 1957 and PPPM was established under the Parliament Act in 1958.
To date, PPPM has 18 branches nationwide with a total number of members exceeding 130,000. PPPM is an independent association, not involved with political parties or any governmental bodies, not based on profits, but instead provides informal education for teenage girls and women.
In 1957, PPPM officially became Associate Member of World Princess Girl Guides and Girl Scouts Association (World WaggGS) and was accepted as a Tenderfoot member in 1960. In 1966 PPPM was accepted as a Full Member of WAGGGS (Full Member ).
PPPM has a commitment to produce women, teenagers and caliber adults through the application of knowledge, skills and value of Girl Guides in the interest of the nation and nation through the vision of PPPM "Lead the development of the potential of girls and women to bring about change."
After 100 years in Malaysia, PPPM has contributed towards producing a great, brilliant and authoritative female leader at national and international levels.
