The Central Board of Secondary Education will be conducting the forthcoming edition, 8th July 2018, of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on behalf of the University Grants Commission. Checks eligibility of the candidate for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) award and lectureship.
UGC - NET Exam 2018 Pattern:
UGC NET will consist of two different papers (Paper I, II) conducted in two sessions. Candidates will need to appear for these two papers in order to be eligible for JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only.
Paper 1: It will be of 100 marks and will contain 50 objective type compulsory questions. Each question will carry 2 marks and will be of general nature and will test the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. The duration of the same will be one hour (9:30 am to 10:30 am).
Paper 2: It will be of 100 marks and will contain 100 objective type compulsory questions. Each question will carry 2 marks and will be based on the subject opted by the candidate. The duration of the same will be two hours (11 am to 1 pm). Candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I & Paper-II on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet provided along with the test booklet. Detailed instructions for filling up the OMR sheet are given on page 16 and 17. It may be noted that these instructions to candidates will not be sent to any of the candidates by post.
The questions in Paper I and II will be designed to cover the entire syllabus, including the electives. The candidates will require marking their answers for questions of all three papers on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided alongside the Test Booklet.
