QuickSlide is an app that enables you to create playlists of your still pictures.
It’s not like the slide show that’s built in to Mac OSX; it can stop and pick up where it left off, shuffle your images randomly or by name or date. And you can choose the transitions between images.
QuickSlide can be set to instantly start your show as soon as it opens up and you can even save playlists to disk.
This newest version has been completely re-written for the latest OSX and graphics drivers and now includes ‘Watch Folders’. These are folders that you’d like QuickSlide to keep an eye on for new or modified images. When something occurs in a watch folder (perhaps you add some new photos or edit one that’s already in there) QuickSlide will add the image to the playlist - if you edit an image already in the playlist, it’ll get moved up so that it will appear within the next couple of transitions of the show.
Another new feature is the ability to display the file locations of the images as they appear in the show. So if you organise you photos into folders that indicate where or when they were taken, showing the names during the show will effectively caption them as they are played through.
To help prevent monitor burn-in (where ‘ghosts’ of images are left on a monitor because the still image has burned into the screen), the names are kept constantly moving and swapping from left to right. Also, there’s now the option to keep the displayed images constantly moving gently in and out.
