Sometimes you need to say something to a vehicle’s driver. Sometimes you would be grateful if someone would have let you know something was wrong about your vehicle or that your vehicle was at risk for some reason.
Platenger is a free anonymous messaging app used by vehicle drivers to get in touch. It may also be used by non-vehicle owners as well.
Platenger is not intended to be used by drivers while driving.
There may be many reasons to contact a vehicle’s driver, some of those include situations of emergency, risk or danger or, you may just want to say thanks!
*Some neighbor’s car alarm is sounding, and you don’t know how to contact him/her.
*Someone parked (‘just for a minute, I promise!’) on your way out and is blocking your exit. You really don’t want to call the tow truck.
*Someone parked with its lights on, or maybe has a light off.
*You accidentally bumped a parked car and you need to contact its owner.
*You found a wallet/purse and it has no contact info. But it has a driver’s license, so you’ll be able to find the driver in Platenger, great!
Bear in mind that you could be the other party in any of those situations. You certainly would like to be contacted right?
How does Platenger help you with that? Well, it’s very simple really. You must register your license plate and State in Platenger so others can find your vehicle and send you a message.
Platenger does not check license plate numbers with any state or federal records, we have no link with DMV’s or any other governmental agency.
No personal info is required to register a license plate, that is why we claim that Platenger is anonymous: you cannot know who the driver of a vehicle is, you can only find the vehicle and send a message to that Platenger user.
Platenger has another feature that can be helpful, especially in emergency situations: emergency contacts and the panic button.
How does it work? Emergency contacts are sort of ‘friends’ in Platenger. You can be emergency contacts with other registered vehicles or users (non-vehicle owners), so it is advisable that you find out other friends/family members’ license plates in advance, so you can find them in Platenger and send them an emergency contact request.
What happens next? Well, if your vehicle happens to be in an emergency situation (i.e. an accident or a crash), people that may be around could find your vehicle in Platenger and send an emergency message to it. This message will be received by you and by your emergency contacts as well, so they can help too if they can.
If you are in an emergency situation, you could press Platenger’s panic button and a message will be sent to you emergency contacts stating that you pressed the panic button and including your current location.
Remember to do a test with the panic button and check if your emergency contacts receive an emergency message when you press the panic button.
If they receive an emergency message (with some red coloring), then you are all set!
What if the vehicle you search for is not registered yet? In this case, you can register an ‘orphan’ vehicle in Platenger and message it. Platenger will save the message and will wait until its owner ‘adopts’ it and receive pending messages.
In those cases, it is advisable that after sending the message to the orphan vehicle, you share that in your social networks, so that the vehicle’s driver gets to know (maybe the friend of a friend?) that he/she has a message waiting.
In the chat screen there is a share button that prefills the post with some standard text saying that the plate ‘ABC 1234’ has a message in Platenger. The message itself is not shared.
If it is important, you should ask your friends/followers to reshare until the driver is found.
