Ratlou FM is a youth-oriented radio station that broadcast and serves the interests of the Community. Therefore the community involvement is one of our first priorities in our Radio station. The Radio Station broadcast in Madibogo Location, reaching geographical areas of Ratlou Local Municipality and surroundings within Ngaka-Modiri Molema district in North West. The station has been registered as Non-Profit Organisation on February 2012, and ICASA has granted the station a five years (5) licence on March 2013.
Ratlou FM has been registered as a non-profit organisation under small company act. The station was established on May 2011 by Mr William Sehere (Founder) and with about 6 working group members whereby they started the project with contributed money out of their pockets; whereby they raised funds from the community in regard to perform the geographical researchers, community survey and compilation of licence features. The working group has done presentations to different structures of Local Government, NGO’s and CBO’s whereby they determined the Need, Demand and Support for the station. The working group contributed towards community by providing youth with necessary resources including bursary application forms, local government and district newspapers e.g. Mmega dikgang, Ratlou newspaper, and local information on Development e.g. IDP. Again the project itself was coordinating and directing events within the community that was hosted and organised by various stakeholders.
The station is aiming to provide a full spectrum of programming contents for its targeted community especially Youth as the formula combining 60% talk & 40% music. Ratlou FM is aiming at providing information and assistance to the community through media and internet as well as creating job opportunities with accessing all information, education, news and all other important programmes that might build better lives for all young graduates in our community to gain experience to enter the job market and give young people skills to start their businesses.
