GetMeThere allows you to quickly bookmark locations of interest or frequent visit, then find quickest routes, avoid traffic, and start turn by turn navigation to the location using a GPS navigator like Google Maps.
All your stored locations will be synced on all your devices using the same login credentials, if you ever change a phone/device your locations will always be there and never lost!
In order to backup and sync locations in the cloud there needs to be a registered user alternatively you can login using your existing Google account and secure oAuth.
UI:
* Tapping the location will initiate turn-by-turn GPS navigation to this location, google maps will also provide alternative routes and estimated arrival time for each route.
* Click on the Star to flag a location as a favourite, fav locations are always at the top of the listing
* Swipe a row/item to the left to reveal option buttons, delete will delete the location and edit will allow you to edit and share this location with friends
* Pull list down to refresh the data
* Tapping the add button in the top right will allow you to create a new location
* add current - will use the device gps to establish a locations and determine address
* add other - will allow you to manually create a location or select from a map linked to google places API for search suggestions
I find that a lot of this can be done using other bigger apps, but I always wanted something really simple, quick and down to the point that I can use daily to quickly check traffic before going places and avoid jams on regular routes. Or to just quickly 'one-button' bookmark a location and be in a position to again 'one-click' start turn-by-turn navigation to this location, or just check the best route based on time of day.
