Now updated to Tango Hopak and compatible with Zenfone AR!
Markmaker is a drawing app using Project Tango hardware to allow users to mark their environments in Augmented Reality. Markmaker features drawing according to the orientation of the surface, color picking, gallery viewing and editing. Drawings may be exported from the gallery as colored OBJ files for sharing online or usage in other 3d environments.
!!! Markmaker uses a new system for managing its own drawings, previously drawings were stored and loaded as OBJs. Now Markmaker saves and loads its drawings as .mmsave files. These are editable in the gallery. Drawings made in earlier versions of the app are still in the same place but no longer visible in the gallery for the sake of optimization. !!!
~ Exporting from Markmaker ~
To retrieve your drawing as an OBJ, navigate to the gallery and select the share icon. I recommend sending the file to yourself as an email. You can also export files without sharing by pressing the export button in the gallery.
You can find exported files under Android/Data/com.thnewlands.markmaker/Files
Markmaker's exported OBJ files use vertex colors which are traditionally unsupported by 3D packages. The package I have found most supportive in this process has been an open source program called Meshlab.
The website Sketchfab also supports vertex coloring meaning that you can take your 3D drawings and share them online in color.
