Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park tells the story of the Richmond CA Kaiser shipyards and the women and men who worked there.
The Rosie the Riveter app provides the essential guide to the park and introduction to the history.
Cargo ships were crucial for winning the war. Under Henry J. Kaiser's leadership the dedicated Richmond workforce built them quicker and better than anywhere else in the country. In the process, many features of today's world emerged: men and women working side by side in the workplace, day care, the health maintenance organization.
Rosie the Riveter guides you through your exploration of this historic period. It provides turn-by-turn directions to park sites, historical background and period photos. You can view your position among the original shipyard buildings as you tour the sites.
As an extra feature, the app also guides you to additional sites throughout the bay area related to the World War II era.
