- Automatically publishes results to the web
- Provides times between checkpoints/controls
Tracking
- 1 second tracking
- live tracking
- analyse routes afterwards
- display on OpenStreetMap or your own map
How to use the app
================
What You Need
- well charged phone!
- an arm phone holder if the timing element is to be used (for tracking only use a pocket etc)
Setting Up The App
- Put app icon on homescreen
- Find widget and add to homescreen (to get the widget, go to homescreen, press+hold on homescreen and select widgets. Scroll through until you find one for Flare. Hold down on the two squares (with number/person in) and drop it onto the homescreen.
- Press the number in widget once on homescreen. Follow instructions as described under ‘before each race’.
NB Although the app asks to be able to make calls it can’t! The app checks regarding internet connectivity and this for some reason is grouped under phone calls permissions….
Before each race
- Press the number on the widget.
- Put your name in
- Type in 3 digit number which corresponds to the course you’re going to do (get from the organiser).
- Press Save
- Press the person symbol in the widget. It should go red. BE PATIENT, it can take a few seconds.
- Press the Flare icon on the homescreen. Once in range of a Beacon a message will be displayed.
- You’re now ready to start.
Time and Track
- Put the phone and case on your forearm so you can read the screen (orienteers - like a control description holder)
- Make sure you have the ring/notification sound on
Tracking Only
- once the person has gone red you're all ready. You can turn the screen off. Just remember to stop the app once you've finished :)
At Controls/Checkpoints
- When you approach a control the app will show the control code and ‘come closer please’ until you’re close enough to register
- The app is designed to register whilst you run past touching the beacon with the hand the phone is on.
- When the beacon has registered it will say ‘Control XXX Registered’ and should make a noise.
After Each Race
Go back to the home screen and press the red person. It will go white.
