Mine RMIT is a entertainment game that helps students understand basic concepts of blockchain technologies through a simulation of mining process.
Goals:
- The game is to demonstrate and introduce new programs, courses run by SBM such as blockchain, bitcoin, fintech etc.
- The game should be simple and easy to engage guests
Theory:
- Hash function maps an arbitrary input (a string or a file with varying size) to a fixed-length string (128-512 bits) that. For example, RMIT has value: 5da77bbcac77b7a8789d02ce45711b6c1c2981448abe770c21a0e224.
- Blockchain is a chain of block that is connected by the hash of the previous block
- Mining: the process that is searching for a special number that can be combined with transaction data and a previous hash to generate a new hash that has 1 or 2 leading zeros.
For example: hash (Transaction data + previous hash value + Nonce) = 00xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- RMITCoin: rewards 2 coins if a miner can find the Nonce (a random number that can be combined to produce a hash that start with 1 or 2 zeros)
Design:
- Player will tap a button as fast as they can (like in a game that is very popular in supermarket now)
- Every tap, the game will randomize a number (Nonce) and recalculate the hash. If the hash is satisfied the formula:
hash (Transaction data + previous hash value + Nonce) = 00xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
then the Nonce is found and the mining is done, the player will be rewarded 1 RMITCoins.
- Depending on the settings but for 1 leading 0 hash, player has to tap at least 50-100 times.
- We can define transaction data which convey a message related to RMIT Vietnam such as RMIT is great, Fintech is now, RMIT brings you international education with local price etc.
- After 2-3 minutes, player that has most marks will be the winner.
