The Camara Learning Academy (CLA) is online Learning Management System developed by Camara Education. It provides a practical example of how to meet the local learning needs of an educator with micro-courses supporting the development of specific skills and competencies needed in their daily activities. The CLA provides teachers, head teachers and members of the community with a relevant learning experience while widening access to learning opportunities.
The philosophy of the CLA micro-courses is to enable educators to complete a specific task or to develop specific competencies within 2 hours. The micro-courses incorporate learning approach based on video, quizzes, assessment activities and discussion and they are leading to certificates of achievement. The courses are available in local languages, such as English, Kenyan Kiswahili and Tanzanian Kiswahili.
The micro-courses are
Developed in response to real needs gathered by the Camara Education field team in the past years after talking with teachers and head teachers;
Focusing on real world demands of educators;
Developed with the reality of teachers time constraints while allowing for valuable engaging CPD;
Offered at a price point that is affordable to the educators; and
Available to the educator for a period after payment so they can keep going back to relearn and revise.
