Manora is a little peninsula established just south of the Port of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Manora is attached to the mainland by a 12 kilometer long embankment called the Sandspit. Manora and neighboring isles make a guarding boundary between Karachi harbor to the north and the Arabian Sea to the south. The western embayment of the harbor comprises threatened mangrove timber plantations which sorrounds the Sandspit and Manora Island. To the east is, Karachi Bay and the beach towns of Kiamari and Clifton. There are numerous ethnic aggregations encompassing Muhajirs, Punjabis, Sindhis, Kashmiris, Seraikis, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis, etc. Over 99% of the community is Muslim. Salehabad is a historic customary fishing village on the peninsula. One of the most highlighted notable sights of Manora Island is the 91 feet high Light House. The Manora Light House is built up with stone masonry and was opened for the general public on April 1, 1889. The light of this lighthouse is prominent from up to 20 nautical miles away in a clear night. The focal plane of this light house is 148 feet high. In 1909, hyper-radiant Fresnel lens was implanted as the optical set-up in this light house and the same set-up is still used till now.
