Weight loss is difficult for many people to accomplish with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes alone. In adults, all treatment decisions begin with an approximate measurement of body fat, called the body mass index (BMI), obtained by dividing body weight (in kilograms) by height (in meters squared). Then experts, such as pharmacists and physicians, offer other tools and recommendations, such as medical management (pharmacotherapy) or bariatric surgery to manage obesity.
Advantages of Doctor's Best Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator

7) Addresses adherence to a weight management program
8) Benefits patients in programs that offer continued medication
use for weight maintenance
9) Alerts patients for risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes:

to 25 (greater than or equal to 23 if Asian-American)

This BMI calculator is provided by Accord Wellness Center.
When you use the BMI calculator, it will help you modify your diet and lifestyle to stay in that healthy weight range between visits with your pharmacist and weight-loss doctor. See your healthcare provider to check for diabetes, if you have two or more risk factors (as noted above).
The higher the BMI, the higher the risk for developing many chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure or diabetes, which are the leading causes of kidney disease and kidney failure, heart disease, gallstones, osteoarthritis, fatty liver disease, sleep apnea, and certain cancers (colon, breast, endometrial, and gallbladder).
According to federal guidelines (NIH), those who fall into the BMI range of 25 to 34.9, and have a waist circumference of over 40 inches in men and 35 inches in women are at especially high risk for health problems.
If your BMI is high, take steps to address it.
