Origin and History of Naturopathy
The term Naturopathy is derived from two words ‘natura’ and ‘pathos’. Natura in Latin means birth and pathos is the Greek root for suffering. Naturopathy is thus a tradition, which applies the five basic elements viz. sky/ ether, air, fire, water and earth, herbals, and acupressure modalities for healthcare. It also promotes wellness through diet and lifestyle counseling. Naturopathy is recognized as an alternative medicine to improve physiological, psychological, and structural balance. Each therapy comprised in Naturopathy is therefore a personal treatment for different individuals.
